Here's what I learned this year...

Hello friends,

As I sit down to write this end of year email, I have a roof over my head, a warm cup of coffee next to me and I'm snuggled up in my cozy home, with plenty of food to eat and fresh water to drink – this is more than the majority of the planet has – and yet still I often feel like I don't have enough.

We become trapped in the constant striving toward goals, the persistent pursuit of more stuff and the ever-developing want for more. I feel this way often, especially as a business owner. I feel the need to grow my business, to sell more suits and to keep chasing that money! It can easily feel exhausting. At what point is it enough?! Do we ever "arrive" or feel like we have enough?

I'm not sure that we do...unless we allow ourselves to feel that way now.

If there's one thing I've learned in 2021, it's that I don't have to do anything to be enough right now. I don't have to get anything else to be ok right now

This year, for me, has been about sinking into feeling good right now and finding joy in the present moment. Because otherwise, what are we really chasing?

Alan Watts said "Stop measuring days by degree of productivity and start experiencing them by degree of presence."

I refer to this quote often. Constant productivity should not be what we chase. More things should not be what we chase. More money should not be what we chase. We've all heard the stories of unhappy and unfulfilled billionaires.

But we're taught to chase those things. We're taught that working hard and earning more and buying more are the only things that really matter.

And yet they're not.

Because happiness can only be found in the present moment. You can be happy and fulfilled and joyous right now, if you allow yourself to be. If we let go of worrying about the future and stressing over the past and we let ourselves be present, we CAN experience true joy and love.

If I get present and actually taste the cup of coffee and really allow myself to feel cozy and warm and I focus on everything I do have in this moment, I naturally start to feel good. And that's when I realize that I don't need a bunch of stuff to feel good and focusing on being present and enjoying all the abundance I do have is the key. That one thing will increase your happiness, your fulfillment and the joy that you experience in everyday life. I guarantee it.

That's what I'll be chasing as we go into 2022.

I hope you find joy today.

Go out and be awesome.

❤️
