Our Prices are Going Up

This is a photo of myself and Esperanza, the owner of the factory that we work with in California. She works super hard and cares a lot about her clients. Whenever I call her, she's either sewing herself or doing something to move production forward. She's a force to be reckoned with!

I came to a hard realization earlier this month–we simply can't keep operating as we have. Our margins don't work. If we want to keep working with Esperanza, we need to make some changes.

It's a hard reality to face when you admit that something isn't working in a sustainable way. To be honest, we barely make enough on each suit to make running this business worthwhile...but I'm not ready to give up...yet.

Which is why, at the end of this year, we'll be upping our prices across the board.

At the beginning of 2022, all of our suits will increase in price by at least $10.

I've always wanted to keep our suits at a competitive price point because when you're actually shredding in swimwear, you need to buy a few of them each year.
In evaluating the market, we've found that competing brands are already selling at much higher price points.

In addition, our costs of fabric have gone up and will continue to do so.

Our sewing costs have gone up to compensate for labor shortages and also to pay workers a more livable rate (we're here for that! 🙌🏽).

Finally, shipping costs continue to rise.

This all adds up to necessary change on our end.

We also believe that garments that are ethically made and responsibly sourced SHOULD cost more.

We've gotten too used to "fast fashion" and paying workers pennies on the dollar for manufacturing. Clothing production is the second largest polluter of waste water in the world and discarded garments are the second largest contributor to landfills. If we want the world to have fresh clean water, fresh air and open spaces for generations to come, then changing how we buy, wear and discard of clothing is imminent. We're starting now.

We believe in full transparency with our production, and business, which is why I wanted to give you this breakdown. It's important to me that you are involved in this conversation as we continue to build the best possible brand that we can.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for voting with your dollar.

I'd love to hear from you on this. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. ❤️
